People walk next to a barricade set on fire during the second day of clashes between the teachers union and the Oaxaca People's Popular Assembly (APPO) members against federal troops in Oaxaca, 30 October 2006. Mexican police with riot gear, armored vehicles and helicopters moved in on Sunday to seize back control of the city center, toppling barricades erected by thousands of protesters -since last May- demanding higher teacher salaries and the resignation of Governor Ulises Ruiz.
