[기억하자! 필수 어휘] pray / prey, extend / intend
1. pray : 동사로서 '기도하다', '빌다'의 뜻
- When evening fell, she inquired if the preacher would like to read the Bible and pray before retiring.(2007 3월 대성 43번) (저녁이 되었을 때, 그녀는 혹시 그 성직자가 잠자리에 들기 전에 성경을 읽으며 기도해 줄 수 있는지 물었다.)

2. prey : 명사로서 '먹이', '희생'의 뜻

1. extend 동사로서 '뻗다', '연장하다', '확대하다'의 뜻

- When you attempt to do something and fail, you have to ask yourself why you have failed to do what you intended. (2002 수능 30번)(여러분이 어떤 일을 시도해보고 실패하면, 여러분은 왜 의도했던 일에 실패했을까 하고 자문하게 된다.)
