1. status : 명사로서 '지위', '상태'의 뜻

2. statue : 명사로서 '상(像)', '조각상'의 뜻

observe / absorb

1. observe : 동사로서 '지키다', '관찰하다'의 뜻

① Many people went outside around August 27 this year to observe the close encounter between Earth and Mars. (2004 수능 33번)(올해 8월 27일에는 많은 사람들이 지구와 화성이 가까워지는 현상을 관찰하기 위해 야외로 나갔다.)

2. absorb : 동사로서 '흡수하다', '열중시키다'의 뜻

① The surface of a particular object will absorb some of this light's wavelengths and reflect others. (1996 수능 25번)(어떤 특정한 물체의 표면은 이 빛의 파장 중 일부는 흡수하고 나머지는 반사한다.)
