Ubiquitous Era Opens at Busan Exhibition and Convention
Center
Busan becomes a leading city providing ubiquitous systems at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center where visitors can experience hands-on ubiquitous systems. It was unveiled yesterday at a forum entitled ‘U-Service Structuring Project for Exhibitions and Conventions,’ with Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik and the president from Busan Metropolitan Council, Jo Kil-woo, taking part.
Busan has invested three billion won since last July for the project. Busan citizen Kang Eui-guk (35) experienced the well-structured ubiquitous systems. He said that as soon as he passed by the U-gate at the main gate with his U-ticket with a built-in wireless electronic sensor, a welcome sentence appeared on the LCD monitor and he heard a welcome voice simultaneously.
Through a double-terminal installed at each exhibition booth, he also could locate a variety of information on the spot about the company, its products and supplemental details. More interestingly, through email, CD, and USB, visitors could download a specific company and its production information at the Catalog Shop by the main gate. It is expected that visitors can be free from traditional heavy documents and catalogs.
The exhibition hosts also can quickly sort out and store visitor information through the U-gate, while visitors are walking around the exhibition. According to a source, this is only part of U-Exhibition and Convention project.
Kim Se-kyu, responsible for this project, said, “By shifting exhibition and convention environments into ubiquitous-centric business quarters, a more convenient and quick business environment can be accomplished,” adding, “By equipping the exhibition and convention center with ubiquitous systems, the business atmosphere in the international convention centers and Busan BEXCO will be swiftly altered.
An automatic sonic and image tracing device is another feature. It can automatically locate a presenter and present him/her on the screen at a convention, as soon as he/she turns on a microphone.
