Former Seoul Mayor Lee would have been arrested

At a news conference yesterday at the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), Kim Yu-chan, a former secretary of Lee Myung-bak, asserted, ¡°Lee Myung-bak would have been arrested if he had not perjured himself.¡± He went on to say, ¡°An aide to former Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak gave me a total of around 100 million won for perjury.¡±
Kim said that he also perjured himself in court after he was given 300 million won from the former mayor's rival, Lee Jong-chan from the National Conference for New Politics in the general elections in 1996, and the former mayor forced him to commit all of the perjuries.
Kim revealed all handwritten documents and audio recordings including the total amount of money that he received from the former Seoul mayor, receiving date, and money deliverer. In particular, the audio recordings include conversations he had with two aides to Mr. Lee.
He also confessed, ¡°I am also not free from committing perjury,¡± adding, ¡°I received a total of 120.5 million won over more than 20 occasions from November 1996 from Mr. Lee¡¯s aides for the perjuries, and they gave the money in cash so as not to leave evidence.¡± He has already turned over the related documents and audio tape recordings that he prepared to the GNP's preparatory committee for the primary presidential candidate race.
The confessor Kim said, ¡°Lee Myung-bak forced his two former aides to deliver the money to me, and I have a thirty-minute voice recording that I made this week of conversations with the two aides of Mr. Lee.¡± According to the tape, one aide said, ¡°You should be careful to mention a third-party person. I have recently been pressed from Mr. Lee.¡±
