Samsung Electronics Dominates Global Market

Samsungs Electronics dominated global television markets last year. According to global display market researcher ¡°Display Research,¡± Samsung Electronics ranked first in the number of TV units including LCD TV, PDP TV, and tube TV markets. They secured the largest share of the world's television market with 10.6 percent, followed by LG Electronics with 9.8%, China¡¯s TTE with 9.4%, Philips with 6.8%, and Sony with 6.2%.
Samsung ranked first In sales volume last year with 14.2%, followed by Sony with 11.3%, LG Electronics with 8.6%, Panasonic with 8.5% and Philips with 8.3%.
This is the first time that Samsung Electronics has dominated global television in the number of units sold and sales volume since it entered the television business in 1972.
An official from Samsung Electronics said, ¡°There is not a long history of global display market researchers to estimate annual sales volume of TV producers, but it is the first time for Samsung Electronics to rank first in sales volume and revenue.¡±
In the global LCD TV market last year, Samsung also dominated at 13.4%, ranking first, followed by Philips with 13.0%, Sony with 11.6%, Sharp with 11.3% and LG Electronics with 7%.
Samsung Electronics has already announced that it will hold its top position this year, 2007, in the global TV market with total sales of 24 million TV sets, including 11 million units of LCD TVs, 3 million PDP TVs, 14 million flat TVs and Slim TVs.
