Two Representatives Turn their Backs on Each Other

As former Prime Minister Go Gun declared himself a non-candidate for the presidential election, former representative of Hanara political party Park Geon Hae and former Mayor of Seoul Lee Myeong Park will start a fierce competition.
In various public polls, supporters of Go Gun turn to former Mayor Lee and former Representative Park and a ¡®structure of two strong figures¡¯ is formed.
Research conducted by Moon Hwa Newspaper and the Korean Society Opinion Institute (KSOI) on January 17 showed 55.8 percent support for Lee and 22.2 percent for Park.
At SBS Research, a support for Lee (50%) and Park (18.5%) has increased.
In this condition, there is strong tension during a season¡¯s greetings meeting held at Yeol Rin Choong Nam provincial party in Cheon Ahn, Choong Nam province on January 17. The two competitors just took a single bow and did not even make eye contact with each other.
Lee embarks on a ¡®political exploration of economics for general people¡¯ beginning with a visit to the Kyung Nam region on January 18 and 19.
On January 18, he visited Daewoo Shipbuilders, had a small meeting with employers and employees, and looked around the site. He plans to visit Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. in Sa Cheon on January 19.
Lee will come to Busan on January 23 and stay until early February. After that, he will visit the Honam, Choong Cheong, Daegu and Kyung Book regions to check the current economic conditions around the areas. Then he will prepare some possible measures. Not concentrating too much on politics, Lee will focus on policy and general living and is expected to outline strategies to continue his popularity through difference of view.
Former Representative Park, whose support stays around twenty percent, says, ¡°Are there any measures on support reaction? Once candidate approval transactions begin, there will be some change.¡±
Despite requests for ¡®advance approval¡¯ and limits on mentioning leaders in the certain political party, Park continues to bring up matters because she cannot seem to find any effective split turn just yet.
At a press interview on January 17 Park said, ¡°I don¡¯t think a procedure which studies and verifies announced policies based on facts is being negative. For the country and people, verification of presidential candidates is certainly necessary.¡±
Park will lecture with the theme "Assignment and our choice for advancement" at a commemorative event of the Free Citizens¡¯ Alliance of Korea which will be held at the Press Center in Seoul in the afternoon of January 18.
