10 Ways to Live to 150

The number of those living to be over 100 years old is gradually increasing.

Scientists say the average lifespan has doubled during the last 200 years and maybe the first human is already born who will live to be 150.

French woman Jean Carmen died at the age of 122 in 1998 and was the longest lived human in the world that could be checked through official birth records.

Secrets to Carmen¡¯s longevity count food with abundant olive oil, wine and her smile. However, it does not have any meaning to live over 100 years with poor health.

The British daily publication, Independent, introduced ten secrets to extend the life span on January 7.
¡Þ Regular exercise - It is possible to lengthen the life span for several years with regular, thirty minute exercises like swimming and walking three times a week. Doing exercises are the best medicine to maintain youth.
¡Þ A little stress - It may sound like disaster having not extreme sun tan, a glass of wine and a lower level of radiation, but strangely, those can be good for the body. A little stress not only stimulates natural recovery mechanisms of the body, but it also gives some energy and delays the aging process.
¡Þ Live in a good environment - Where one lives is also important for longevity. Okinawa, Japan gained a name as longevity town because there are so many old people in good health. Compared to Okinawa, poor and polluted cities, like Glasgow in the UK, have human life spans of less than 54 years old.
¡Þ Get ahead - An research report announced that a person who has fortune, opportunities, gets ahead in the world and receives more and more education is more likely live longer than others.
¡Þ Eat healthy food - Eating foods like spinach or broccoli that are full of antioxidants and beta-carotene delays the aging process, so they are helpful for a long life.
¡Þ Challenge oneself - Mental health is just as important as bodily health. When the brain gets stimulated and is active, the immune system gets strengthened and wards off various diseases, from depression to senile dementia.
¡Þ Enjoy life - Having good human relationships is another way to live long. A married man lives seven more years and a married woman lives two more years longer on average. Chocolate, wine and laughter are good longevity medicines.
¡Þ Look for a god or friend - A religion compensates not only the world after death, but also pays for the life time. A religious person lives seven years longer than an atheist on average, reported by over a hundred documents. As well as a religion, a friend can be another important factor for longevity.
¡Þ Reduce food intake - Reducing calories ten to sixty percent lowers metabolism and production of harmful active oxygen, that results in extending the life span.
¡Þ Get regular health checks - Getting a regular health check before getting a life threatening disease is a good way to live up to 100 years.
