Quiet Impression with ‘Paprika in Gratitude’
“You gave us strength to get over the agony stirred by the flood disaster. With your help, we could harvest these agricultural products. It isn’t much, but we are sending the local specialty, paprika, along with the townspeople’s heart in them.”
Recently, twenty kilograms of paprika and a letter were delivered to the volunteer service center at the Geo-je dockyard of Samsung shipbuilders.
Township chief Go Young-doh (55) at Dae-gok town office in Jinju city, Kyung-nam province is the hero who sent the letter of appreciation and the regional specialty. The chief said, "Volunteer service workers from Samsung shipbuilders offered priceless sacrifice and efforts at the flood site that was entirely swept away due to the summer typhoon. They put all their efforts to minimize enormous damage and losses were restored within a short period."
Therefore, Go wrote a letter to deliver appreciation and sent a present from the heart. It was carefully wrapped after the local people personally harvesting the product. Inside the gift box was a memo with recipes for paprika.
Typhoon 'Ewiniar' hit the whole vinyl house complex in Dae-gok in July last year causing terrible damage. Then members of the volunteer service center of the Geo-je dockyard rounded up buses and machinery and worked hard around the area for an entire week. There were approximately 150 people every day to participate in the service reorganizing the place against flood. The service workers devoted themselves to restoration, including removal of vinyl houses and cutting iron pipes that were bent by the strong wind.
The volunteer service center of Samsung shipbuilders passed the gift of paprika on to the Sungji institute (juvenile welfare center) in Ok-po Dong, Geo-je city.
Choi Young-soon (32, nutritionist) who works at the institute said, “Paprika is full of vitamins C and E so it is a useful agricultural product to help prevent children from catching a cold. Children love it as well and we are thankful for the farming people.”
