Busan Reserves Designation of Park Zone

The Busan Metropolitan City Office held an advisory council meeting on December 19 to alter the standard city plan. They discussed designating the current limited development district (greenbelt), a possible site for a Sun Cultural Town, as park area. Results are that the plan will be put on hold for the moment and they will conduct specific examinations including spot checks through sectional meetings.
On the day of the advisory meeting, council members will study clinical conditions, surrounding roads or buildings on the targeted sites to verify their present situation, grades of hillsides, and others through field reconnaissance. After the thorough investigation, the members will hold a complete advisory conference.
Accordingly, council members will begin field reconnaissance sooner or later and will hold a general advisory meeting again during January next year. At the next meeting, positive and negative opinions will be collected towards designating park zones.
At the advisory meeting, city officials said there is no possibility of turning the greenbelt into something like a troubled development, including revocation of the greenbelt designation. The person concerned stated, "Out of the total area, some twenty percent, or 6,500 square kilometers, will be developed and the rest of the area will remain in its current state. Sun Cultural Town also claimed to place only minimum meditative facilities which are needed for virtual experience,¡±
On the other hand, most council members said, ¡°Surroundings of the designated spot are already overflowing with various improvements and the beautiful lower edges of Mountain Geum-jeong will be spoiled when town facilities focus on the steep grades,¡± Members presented negative opinions that are presumed to make it difficult to designate the park spot.
