Suspected killer of five prostitutes finally arrested

British police arrested 37-year-old Tom Stephens yesterday on suspicion of murdering five prostitutes. According to the BBC, he was arrested at his home near Felixstowe, a port town, at 7:20 a.m. The alleged murderer worked in a supermarket.

A police officer said that he is suspected in a serial killing of five prostitutes aged 19 through 29. They worked in the town of Ipswich where British police found the bodies of five naked women around a stream, a pond, and a forest over a period of 11 days this month. A police source said that the women sold their bodies for drugs.

This case caused shock and fear in Britain, reminding them of Peter who murdered 13 prostitutes between 1975 and 1980.

Police Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull said that police searched the man¡¯s house and confiscated items for further investigation. After recognizing that he is suspicious, police arrested him.

Gull said, ¡°He has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the women and he is currently in custody at a police station in Suffolk where he will be questioned about the deaths later today."
