KAI and Lockheed Martin Exchange MOU




It is reported that Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. (KAI) and US Lockheed Martin exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to reinforce their strategic cooperative relationship in the aerospace market. A representative from Lockheed Martin visited KAI on November 16.

Through the MOU, KAI and Lockheed Martin agreed to use co-marketing strategies in order to activate the Golden Eagle T-50 in the US market. The T-50 is a supersonic training aircraft developed by KAI. The companies have also agreed to take part in remodeling and improving the F-16 fighter and the C-130 transport airplane that have been widely used in world markets. They also discussed cooperation in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market hereafter.

On the cooperative foundations with Lockheed Martin, KAI has successfully completed its KF-16 project and developed its T-50 training aircraft, which will contribute to improving Korea¡¯s war strength and developing its aerospace industry. It is forecast that the two companies will be establishing a co-marketing team for exports of the T-50.

Chung Hae Joo, CEO of KAI, said, ¡°Through this MOU, the two companies will structure a wider and more intimate relationship. We expect that through active exports of the T-50, KAI will become a leading aerospace company in the world market.¡±
