President George W. Bush, ¡°Six-party talks as soon
as possible¡±

After the announcement that North Korea decided to return to the six-party talks, US President George W. Bush stated that the talks should be resumed as soon as possible.
President Bush, in an interview with Reuters, said because North Korea decided to return to the talks, it is better to resume the talks as early as possible. He did not doubt the intention of North Korea to return, saying, ¡°This is his choice, and I hope he becomes serious about it.¡±
Despite North Korea¡¯s nuclear test, he said, ¡°We do not consider North Korea a nuclear weapon-possessing country,¡± stressing, ¡°Our aim is to see they are not a nuclear weapon-possessing country and to help them disarm their nuclear weapons.¡±

¡°Despite North Korea agreeing to return to the talks, UN sanctions should continue.¡± He added, ¡°We hope the talks will succeed and believe that the nuclear issue with North Korea will be settled peacefully. North Korea resisted the international community¡¯s strong pressure, but now they are recognizing its seriousness.¡±

Regarding the pressure for Rumsfeld to resign, due to the Iraq war, Bush wants him to stay his term.
