Likely to new Ling-up for a new party

Amidst a growing necessity to establish a new party out of the ruling Uri Party, sharp friction is emerging over the fate of the Uri Party. In particular, after Chun Jung Bae¡¯s official proposal the conflict between President Roh Moo-hyun's group and party leaders has been escalating. Some analysts say that his proposal has already lit the firecracker.

The group against President Roh has claimed the exclusion of President Roh from a new party. In conjunction with a reshuffle of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the head of the National Security Institute, party floor leader Kim Han Gill urged President Roh to only pay attention to overcoming economic and security crises, ¡°This is a time when the nation needs a cabinet capable of managing the security and economic crises in the aftermath of the North Korean nuclear test."

"The president must form a dream team by hiring talent and concentrating his all energies on such issues throughout the rest of his term." Uri Party frustrations with the Blue House were showing yesterday when senior party leaders offered President Roh Moo-hyun some advice: pay full attention to the nation's economic and security problems and stay out of the party's political affairs.

One day Ahead of Kim¡¯s message, Chung Dae Chul stated, ¡°President Roh is no longer a main character after his presidency. Whether he is included or not in a new party is not an issue,¡± implying that he stands against President Roh. Another proponent of establishing a new party, the Democratic Party, is also taking a stance against President Roh. Han Hwa Gap clearly stated, ¡°Even though the ruling Uri Party shakes up for a new party a million times, the new party will not get out of the president's hand.¡±

Regarding the boiling hot issue, Chung Wa Dae spokesman Yoon Tae Young said, ¡°We have to consider President Roh a member of the Uri Party,¡± implying that Chung Wa Dae will not just look on at the current trends in the domestic political arena.
