A long spell of foggy weather continues in the Busan region.

According to the Busan Regional Metrological Office on October 18, during the period between October 9 and October 18, except October 15 and 16, continuous foggy conditions disturbed people’s daily lives.

Especially, visibility was less than one kilometer on October 10 due to dense fog and on the other days foggy conditions continued during the daytime, not a temporary thin mist.

The reason for the situation is that high atmospheric pressure settled in along the southern coastal area for a long time. It is predicted that the flow of atmospheric conditions is stalled. Since the beginning of this month average temperatures are higher than usual by one to three degrees. Another reason is the temperature differences during daytime and nighttime are high.

In the end, the heated surface of the ground during the days and the warm humid air of the coastal region cause fog after minute water drops freeze in the cold temperatures at night. Particularly, the sea fog that flows onto the land in the Busan region cannot be dispersed due to the stalled atmospheric front. That is the main cause of the continuous foggy conditions that do not disappear during the day.
