BIFOT 2006 to be held in BEXCO with Fifth World Korean Business Convention

It is reported that the floor space used for the Busan International Footwear & Textile Fashion Week for 2006 (BIFOT 2006) will be greatly diminished due to the influence of the Fifth World Korean Business Convention to be held during the same period.

Some sources, however, said that BIFOT 2006 will foster its marketing strategy, attracting outstanding international and domestic buyers and holding a trade counseling convention. BIFOT 2006 can create more opportunities to pave the way for new business markets through the networks of the World Korean Business Convention.

According to Busan Metropolitan City and BEXCO, 192 enterprises including 162 footwear and leather-related companies along with 86 textile and fashion-related companies, will participate in BIFOT 2006, down 38% compared to last year. It was originally scheduled to be held from Oct. 21 until Nov. 2 in BEXCO.

In particular, the number of international companies will decrease to almost half compared to last year. Previously, BIFOT 2006 was held in two convention halls out of the three halls in BEXCO. This time it will be held in only one hall. The rest will be used for the World Korean Business Convention.

Although the floor space of the BIFOT 2006 has decreased, the city is inviting 500 international buyers from 40 countries, similar to the number from last year. In particular, the city will attract 40 European buyers where footwear and textile markets are well developed, up 50% over last year.
