Over 30 Products Monitored Prior to Chusok

Prior to the Chusok breaks, Busan City will be setting its sights on the fluctuating prices of agricultural, stock farm, and marine products, as well as industrial products and personal services to keep prices stable. They announced it yesterday at City Hall, entitled, ¡°Comprehensive Measuring Meeting for Price Stabilization.¡±
The city forecasts that there will be a slight increase in grain prices after mid-September, since approximately 126,200 bags will be consumed for ten days before Chusok. With regard to fruits and cabbages, it foresees increases over 14% because of the consumption of over 15,810 tons.
According to the report, prices of domestic stock farm products will stabilize because of resumption of American beef imports, but prices of some marine products will rise from 5 to 21%. The report pointed out that it is urgent to devise appropriate measures for the price stabilization because of unbalanced rising rates between the personal services index and the consumer price index.
With other government departments, Busan City plans to operate a task force to crack down on illegal collusion among producers and retailers, cornering and hoarding, and falsifying the origin of products. A total of 89 teams consisting of 322 officials will be setting their sights on illegal business before the Chusok breaks.
