Outlook for Job Market in Second Half

Recruiting has begun for the second half of the year by major companies in Busan. In particular, because of prosperity in the domestic shipbuilding and automobile sectors, it is expected that the leading shipbuilding company, Hanjin Heavy Industries, and Renault Samsung Motors plan to recruit more new employees in the second half than last year.

According to a staff member from Hanjin, it began receiving job applications for experienced workers since August 14 for sales, facility and equipment, production, and design positions. It will hire 50 to 60 employees.

Hanjin will also employ 100 and 130 new recruits in October and November for positions in administration, shipbuilding, machinery, and electronics. It hired 90 recruits last year. Regarding the increased number of recruits, staff from Hanjin explained that it is because of increasing work loads caused by prosperity in the shipbuilding sector and the company's big project to construct a ship yard in the Philippines. Hanjin is supposed to dispatch a total of 100 office workers in charge of human resource management.

Renault Samsung Motors will employ 20 experienced production engineers for positions in welding, assembly, quality and technology. Applicants should submit registrations by August 26. According to staff, applicants with TOEIC scores over 750 score or overseas residence will be preferred. In addition, it plans to employ over 150 recruits with bachelors or masters degrees around September or October. The source stated, "Because of prospects of additional Busan-based factories, we have to hire more employees compared to last year."

Busan Bank is also supposed to recruit around 50 regular full-time staff during the second half.
