Hot Marketing War Among Local Stores

'Hot weather has continued for more than five days in Busan. Amid the continuing hot summer, stores have been striving to attract customers by providing a wide range of astonishing marketing strategies.

'Cool summer Goods'
Customers can see a wide variety of funny summer good at Sharper Outlet in Busan Lotte
Department Store. In the case of a personal cream, it can be used as a necklace for cooling the neck, priced at 49,000 won.

In another example of outstanding goods, there is a double layered umbrella that protects against strong sunshine. It sells for 35,000 won. The store also sells cool water cushions at 39,000 won, which are for a driver's seat.

A source from Auction, a leading online market, says, "Ice goods are selling like hot cakes nowadays." He added that a 2,700 won cool pillow and ice cushion are very hot in the market. Another large discount online market, Lotte.com, sells iced fried chestnuts at 24,900 won, ice facial pack at 2,500 won, icy strawberries at 29,000 won, and icy potatoes at 5,600 won.

'Various Cool Events'
Citizens can enjoy an evening outdoor movie at Hanaro Club Busan Branch in Geumgok-dong every weekend. It also operates a Children's Fun Zone named Air Bounce where they can enjoy water play and water boats until 10:00 pm. A staff member from the store says that on August 5 and 6 the store will prepare a free pork BBQ party including a beer festival.

'Welcome Night Owls'
Shinsegae E-mart extends its business hours and serves free watermelon for night owls. Night visitors can also enjoy films for free. A staff member said that other shops, including a beauty shop and an animal clinic, also extend their business hours for night owls.
