Greenbelt special arrangement ¡®skeptical¡¯

Busan citizens residing in the Gangseo district skeptical about the announcement that the Ministry of Construction and Transportation will designate illegal construction within the Gangseo greenbelt zone as a special arrangement district.
The ministry proposed a blueprint during public hearings held on July 30 under the title of ¡®Public Hearings on Innovation for Greenbelt Zones at Gangseo.¡¯ Attendees, including Gangseo residents, expressed their dissatisfaction, asserting, ¡°It is another restriction to ignore what residents face.¡±
Approximately 40 residents who attended the hearing thought the proposal was unrealistic, explaining that if the government designates the district to be developed in order to construct a golf course, a youth training center, and other profit-generating businesses, it implies that the government intends to limit residents¡¯ participation. Moreover, the residents showed strong negative views on that the government will develop profit-making businesses for residents. Some say that, first of all, the most matter for residents is it can hurt their livelihood until completion of the innovations in the greenbelt zone at Gangseo.
Since most residents in the greenbelt zone grow mushrooms for business, and earn over one million won per month, they cannot give up their business without sufficient compensation from the government. Ju Hyung-moo, representative of the residents, said, ¡°The proposal at the hearing made us very disappointed. We think that the best way to deal with the matter properly is the government should provide proper compensation to the residents by buying real estate in the greenbelt zone.¡±
