Hot Busan International Motor Show at BEXCO

During the weekend, the 3rd Busan International Motor Show 2006 (BIMOS 2006) that began at BEXCO on April 28 was crowded with Busan citizens and international visitors. It is the largest event of its kind in history. According to an official, over 300,000 visitors came to the show during the weekend. This is up 28.5% compared to last year.
A BEXCO official said, ¡°We believe a lot of visitors are from other domestic regions and other countries,¡± adding, ¡°So we expect the number of visitors to exceed 1,050,000 because there are four days left.¡± In particular, most visitors are interested in prototypes and convertible cars that are first unveiled in the nation.¡±
Visitor Choi Yong Ho from Seodaeshin-dong said, ¡°It is amazing to have a chance to see top-notched sedans and convertibles here and to get information from the participating automakers directly,¡± adding, ¡°It is a little inconvenient that there isn¡¯t room where visitors with kids can take a rest.¡±
According to a release, 171 businesses (149 from Korea plus 22 from nine other countries) are taking part in the event with 25 brands participating from seven countries. More interestingly, this show includes Nurimaru House in a tour, where APEC was held on Dongbaek islet. Visitors can walk by after enjoying the show. A source from the show says, ¡°Visitors can take a shuttle bus that runs every 20 minutes between the two places.¡±
A visitor from Kyongnam, Choi Eun Han, said, ¡°My family visited here to enjoy both places for one night and two days,¡± adding, ¡°It is fantastic to see these sorts of premium foreign vehicles.¡±
According to an official, BIMOS 2006 will provide a glimpse of the future for the nation¡¯s automotive industry while providing economic ripple effects worth about 300 billion won.
¡°One thing the show has to consider is to deal with illegally parked vehicles around the show,¡± another visitor pointed out.
