Largest Sea Food Department Store to be Constructed in
Eastern Busan
The largest seafood department store in the nation will be constructed in the Mipo region, known as one of the most environmentally friendly districts in Busan. According to the domestic investment company Ru-sung and Mipo Sealand Development Headquarters, construction for Seafood Department Store was begun at the beginning of March.
A source from Ru-sung, which invested 20 billion won on the 10-story building, says that the building is scheduled to be opened to the public from this December.
He added that the first floor of the building is used for seafood markets, the second floor is for raw fish sauce stores, the third and fourth floors are for Japanese restaurants and seafood restaurants, and the fifth and sixth floors are for an indoor swimming pool, sauna rooms, and leisure facilities. Visitors can enjoy meals and leisure facilities, like a nonstop shopping mall.
Fishermen and raw fish restaurant owners welcome the company’s idea because it will give priority to those who currently do raw fish business around the region and sell seafood to Mipo Seafood stores and restaurants.
It is forecast that once the environmentally friendly seafood building is opened next to Haeundae beach, it will become another well-known seafood center, like Jagalchi fish market.
