Booming Service Industry

It is estimated that the domestic service industry has been resuming its productivity. A source said, ¡°The service production hit a record after 2002.¡± According to a report released by the Statistics Office, domestic service production in January 2006 was up 6.9%, compared to the same month last year.
It is the highest point since 2002. In particular, it is anticipated that the rate of increase in service production will continue. However, it was shown that production recorded by wholesale and retailing industries marked up 3.7%, slightly lower than last year.
However, it is analyzed that the beverage industry, department stores and discount market sectors are leading service sectors that play a key role in the boom. In the case of the film and performance industries, it is estimated that they are up 27.9% compared to last year, and especially. the film industry was up 50.9%.
With respect to productivity and trends of the service sector, the office stated, ¡°On the basis of the report, we can¡¯t analyze there was a polarized spending boom.¡± The report showed that food and lodging sectors haven¡¯t stepped into a stable phase yet.
