Shopping through Cell Phone

Domestic discount markets have already stepped into the second round of unavoidable competition for high-tech services. According to marketing experts, there has been fierce competition among domestic discount stores for state-of-the-art technology services to attract customers. For instance, they have invested abundant capital to establish high-tech mobile charge systems, electronic price displays complying with IT technology so as to get customers, convenience, and expenditure reduction.
One of the biggest discount stores, Home Plus, has already established a new concept mobile charge system combined with communication, finance, and distribution with Visa Card, LG Card, and LG Telecom. The system started operating from Mar. 1 at all 42 Home Plus stores.
The innovative mobile system, referred to as an RF Smart Card System, is very different from the old version IRFM system so far utilized by domestic mobile communication companies. An expert says, ¡°It is the new system adopted by top-notch IT technology.¡± As a customer touches his/her credit card or cell phone on a card reader, all card payments, mileage points, and discount coupon systems are automatically and simultaneously settled.
Another discount store, Carrefour, adopted the system last month at the Seoul World Cup Mall on 12,000 products. The electronic system enables customers to get beneficial events, promotions, and discount events.
Lotte Mart also plans to adopt sophisticated IT systems in the first quarter of this year so as to heighten its business efficiency and customer convenience.
