“Want promotion? Need social service.”
One of the major liquor producers in Gyeongnam Province, Muhak, announced that their employees including upper management would be required to have volunteer service hours in order to get a promotion. The decision was made since the company aims to participate in more practical volunteer services.
The company will eliminate the candidates for promotion if they are not in volunteer service at least four hours per year. It has 180 employees and the plan for this year’s volunteer service is to have at least 500 hours by all of its employees.
The places to visit and help will be notified via its home page, and the majority of services will be visiting the social welfare facilities and helping needy neighbors.
The Vice Chairman, Choi Jae Ho said, “We regret that our participation of social service had been either a donation or a once a year event. Now, we have decided to require our employees to volunteer so that we will be able to continually participate in practical ways to improve out society.” He also added that the company would strive to be an active model to give service and profits back to our society.
