Department Stores Extend Business Hours Prior to Lunar
New Year’s Day
Ahead of Lunar New Year’s Day, local department stores and large discount stores plan to extend their business hours. Lotte Department Stores in Seomyoen and Dongrae, and Hyundai Department Store will extend business hours by 30 minutes to 8:30 p.m. until Jan. 27. They will again close at 8 p.m. on Jan. 28. Then the two stores will not open for two days, from Jan. 29 to 30.
However, one of the big discount markets, Home Plus, has designated one branch per city to remain open even during the New Year’s holiday. Busan Asiad branch opens at 12 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. while other branches will be closed on Jan. 29, but reopen from 10 a.m. on Jan. 30.
Busan Nonghyup Hanaro Club branch extends business by one hour from Jan. 26 to 28, opening at 2 p.m. and closing 10 p.m. on Jan. 29. Another big shopping mall, Judice Taewha will extend the closing time an hour to 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, and on Lunar New Year’s Day, Jan. 29, it will be open from 1 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
