Artificial Intelligence Robot for Street Crime Protection

It seems that a night guarding robot, preventing crime by patrolling the streets in the middle of the night, will be developed by the year 2011. In addition, it is expected that a health care robot to assist people in a gym and an entertainment robot will be produced as well.
According to an announcement concerning development of intelligent robots by the
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy on Jan. 17th, a collaborating team for development of specialized robots is to aggressively promote a wide range of projects. These will include a social security robot in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Communication and the Ministry of National Defense. The agency has already organized a social security robot project team, including 49 robot experts, officials from each ministry, scientists from a robot network, and other participants. The first meeting will be held this weekend at Hanyang University.
The Korean government also plans to develop dog and horse-shaped robots, with the Ministry of National Defense by the year of 2011, used during virtual war campaigns.
