Successful Men Need Fashion Style
Researcher Lee Min-hoon of the Samsung Economic Research Institute, pointed out during his movie lecture on Jan. 16th, entitled ’SERY CEO’ for Samsung executives, “It is very important to consider that if you wish to succeed, avoid wearing white socks with black trousers, using strong cologne, or wearing worn out shoes.” He was reiterating what image consultant Sagawara Akemi said, “Those wishing success should show reliability by dressing appropriately in basic style, rather than randomly following the latest fashion trends.” Sagawara, one of the leading image consultants in the world, introduced ‘Fashion Style of the Successful Man” and is currently president of the image consulting company “Impression” in Japan.
Sawagara is one of the most well known image consultants and has been advising how to produce a positive image for Japanese prime ministers, conglomerate CEOs, and TV news announcers. He points out: do not wear white socks with dark trousers or worn-out shoe heels, and keep shoes shiny all the time.
In particular, he points out that being down at the heels gives the wearer a negative image, like a person who is facing something difficult or unresolved, or tough. Successful aspirants ought to wear pants with a perfect crease, and it is absolutely discouraged that heavyset man wears pants that are too tight or hikes up his pants over his belly button. He added that crease of the jacket may be evidence of a business attitude: working without tension, leaning back in his chair. It is appropriate that there is a one-finger gap between shirt collar and neck, and the shirt collar 1cm above the jacket looks fine.
