Hyundai and Kia 20% More Expensive Than in the US Market

A survey reveals that the vehicle prices of Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia are up to 20% more expensive in the domestic market than in the US market.
In particular, it was an unexpected surprise that current prices of the vehicles were double compared to prices from nine years ago, whereas export vehicle prices increased only 50%. Therefore, the two companies are now facing a flood complaints from citizens and civic groups.
According to the US Auto Information source, the domestic price of a SONATA 2.4 is 24,200,000 won, 24.6% higher than the US consumer price of $16,395. The Kia sedan Opirus is also more expensive than in the US market.

With regard to this survey, a Hyundai source asserted, ¡°It could be possible because of installation of automobile options, but there are no large price gaps between consumer prices in the Korean and US markets.¡±
