[Journal] A Point of View
By Novelist Joo Youn

The woman loved to go on bus trips. She liked to be lost in thought on the bus, sitting in the front seat, while watching the scenery pass by. Whenever it rained and the wind blew, it made her depressed, so she changed into jeans to get on the cross-country bus. She blankly gazed at her image which was reflected in the bus window.

The eyes with double eyelids, she looked into those eyes for a particularly long time. The eyes were downtrodden from looking at things that there were not needed to be seen. Perhaps it would have been better not to look, from the beginning. Look only at what you want to see. However, she knew herself well as a cub writer, that she couldn't miss out on a thing.

To meet the art world, she had to lower herself even more than when she was living with her real name and looked at things furiously. It was ironic. There was a call for a rest stop when thoughts and scenery were overlapping. The woman got a cup of coffee and sat down on a plastic chair in an unfamiliar rest stop.
