Race to Reserve Tickets for the Lunar New Year¡¯s Day
Has Begun

Train ticket reservations for New Year¡¯s Day according to the lunar calendar began on November 29th. Passengers are already fighting on the Internet to reserve tickets on the Seoul-Busan lines that travel during the prime time. They are expected to have about a 4.7% rate of success in getting a ticket.

There are 1,400,000 tickets available for January 27th and the next five days of the holiday season. KoRail expects the highest demand for Seoul-Busan lines that have 140 thousand tickets within the passengers' favorite time period. Hypothetically, if two million people try to reserve eight tickets for both ways, the success rate would only be 4.7%. It may seem unreal, yet if a family of four or a group of singles or co-workers wishes to travel, the tickets would be sold instantly. New Year¡¯s Day is considered to be the most important holiday for family reunions, and is also one of the longest holidays for travelers to enjoy winter sports.

KoRail announced that they are preparing to serve more Internet users by expanding the capacity of the web server and the Internet lines to cover about 230 thousand users at the same time. However, there are more than 5,800,000 KoRail members so that many of them may experience delays or inconvenience on-line.
