LG Economic Research Institute Analyzes Korean Conglomerates

Recent analysis reveals that the main reason that Korean medium and small-sized companies beat Korean conglomerates in competition is due to the lack of conglomerate flexibility and creativity.

Regarding this phenomenon, LG Economic Research Institute asserted it is credible that in the actual business arena, small companies defeat conglomerates with qualified workforces.

This report demonstrated two cases: Google is slowly catching up with Microsoft producing ten times the number of sales, and the occupancy rate of ReignCom and Cowin in the MP3 market covers 60%, higher than Samsung¡¯s.

Two other cases illustrate that Winia¡¯s kimchi refrigerator, Dimche, is covering its market, and small companies such as Palm and RIM replaced Sony and Apple in the PDA market with their products.

LG ERI says this phenomenon arose due to the fact that most conglomerates mainly aim to develop large markets where a lot of prospective customers exist, but causing customer dissatisfaction.
