Civil affairs automatic machines turned off on holidays

Automatic equipment for civil affairs creates an image that South Korea is an "IT power country." In the past, people had to visit social security offices or county offices to get documents for civil affairs, but now they don't have to go and fill out forms, nor do they have to wait in line. Most of all, the best thing is that the machines can operate 24 hours a day throughout the year.
Since the machines were introduced in Yousunggu, Daejun city in 1998, local governments have tried to increase the number of machines for civil affairs for the convenience of residents.
Especially, with the beginning of the five-day workweek system at government and municipal offices, people are increasingly using the automatic machines, as they cannot get personal service on the weekends.
However, people cannot use the machines for civil affairs in Busan. Considering the population of Busan, the number of machines is too small. In all, there are 47 machines in Busan with only 2 to 5 in each ward and county. One can hardly find any machines in the floating population area.
What is worse, operational problems with the machines are severe. Except for machines installed at the county office building, almost all of them cannot be used on weekends or on holidays. Even on business days, people can use the machines only during business hours. Because the machines are located inside the building, people have to enter the building, but when government employees finish their work, the building is closed. Twenty-four hour machines cannot be used at that time.
It is depressing that when people want to use the machines at peak times on holidays and weekends, they cannot use them, although the machines were installed with great expensive for the residents.
It is a cause of envy that machines are available at an apartment complex of over 2,000 households in Daejun and a 24 hour operational security system in Cheungju. Busan Metropolitan City should immediately take steps to change the operational system of the machines so that Busan citizens may use them at any time.
