New Port needs detour

Construction of the Gyeunma bridge is delayed, which is supposed to be the main road to Busan New Port. It is an urgent situation for New Port is scheduled to open in two months. The troublesome parts are the under-floor of the waterway and the foundation of iron beams and piles for the bank, which are in the mud layers and in weak ground that is sinking and deforming. As a result, the ground is slanting to the side.
Since they are at work revamping of the foundation, they cannot even conceive of the idea of laying bridge piers and upper plates. Despite the late consultation of experts, they are trying to find a way to solve the problems. They are to blame for they didn't adequately survey the construction site in advance.
Construction of Gyeunma Bridge will provide route to New Port as an alternative to an 8-lane back road for round-trips to the port. The first back road is delayed because of lack of funds for construction, so they need an alternative route until they open the back road at the end of 2008. If New Port opens, there will be much traffic on the alternate route.
It is a matter of grave concern if they cannot complete road construction before Busan New Port opens in January of next year because they will have trouble transporting goods. The construction of infrastructure for New Port faces rough going as they have barely proceeded with plans to install water supply facilities, gas lines, and communication networks to New Port.
If they have trouble with construction of the alternative transportation road for the back road to Busan New Port because of budget deficits, they cannot escape disastrous congestion of urban traffic with container trucks and cars at Busan New Port. However, safety is important so they should not push the construction too hard. They need to prepare enough safety for Gyeunma Bridge and find other transportation routes and detours. They have to do their best to meet a new opportunity for a New Port era in Busan.
