Kimchi included on menu for APEC Summit?

As it was found that domestic kimchi, as well as Chinese-made kimchi, has eggs that are allegedly from pig excrement used as fertilizer for cabbage, it is a concern whether or not kimchi can be included on APEC meal tables.

According to Busan Metropolitan City and the APEC Preparation Commission, it is not sure if kimchi will be included as a menu item.

A source from the Busan hygienic institution responded negatively, saying, ¡°Food is a very sensitive image, so because eggs were found in kimchi it is doubtful if it could be put on the meal tables at the APEC summit." It can also be assumed that since the news that kimchi has eggs has spread all over the world, it is hard to imagine that kimchi can be put on the menu.

As for hotels where APEC summit leaders will stay, they mention, ¡°It is not a big matter to add kimchi as a menu item because of the fact that every hotel directly makes kimchi,¡± adding, ¡°However, it is rare to add kimchi as a menu item during APEC because summit meal tables can be set with Western meals.¡±

It is normal not to release meal menus prior to summit talks.
