SKT to Offer Free Caller ID Service Next Year

SK Telecom announced on October 18th that CID (Caller Identification Presentation), a supplementary service, will be offered without cost from January 1st, 2006.

SK Telecom will lighten the burden of telecommunication charges by some twenty billion won accordingly, as they eliminate the CID charge and secure competitive prices in preparation for competitive markets and to cater to customer satisfaction.

In the meantime, political circles and citizens’ groups have besieged the Ministry of Information and Communication, insisting that CID be free of charge. The Ministry of Information and Communication has also been promoting a plan that CID charges should be included in the base rate of mobile communication.

KTF officials mentioned that KTF would deliberately examine the reduction, considering the effects on the market and investment support, and measuring the surface area of marketing, synthetically. LG Telecom was perplexed that the reduction plan has been organized earlier than expected.
