Busan Metropolitan City proposes to open National
Library Branch Institute.
Busan Metropolitan City officially requested the central government to invite a National Library Branch Institute to Busan. The invitation of a National Library Branch Institute is a task by which the city can establish important cultural infrastructure and leap forward to becoming a city of the world. There are some preconditions for the invitation of the national library branch to Busan and some prospects for it. There are a lot of problems to be solved, such as transformation of public libraries to private libraries, old facilities, and lack of special programs for reading.
First of all, citizens should frequently visit libraries, use reading materials and conduct research. in addition, accessibility to libraries should be expanded. If Busan people often visit libraries as a “mecca of cultured citizens", the invitation of the branch of the National Library of Korea to Busan will be lusciously realized.
Busan Metropolitan City should prepare a master plan for the branch of the National library of Korea and bring it to fruition. Busan has a task of inviting and realizing a comprehensive cultural complex to lead the city into the 21st Century, along with the Youngnam areas.
