Just Press ¡°send¡± and be charged 20000 won.

641 cases filed for the fraud ¡°060¡± service.

A consumer's alert has been issued for a phone service that over-charges customers who unknowingly use it.

On the 29th, the Korea Communications Commission reported that there was an increased number of complaints about service charges for 060 services that customers did not use. The Commission issued an ¡°alert number 12¡± to warn consumers.

Consumers ¡°unconsciously¡± pressed the ¡°send¡± button after receiving a text message or ¡°missed calls,¡± to check the sender, and were charged with high rates.

The Korea Communications Commission had received 280 cases regarding the ¡°060¡± number service last year, yet the problem is rapidly increasing as it has received 641 this year. 060 services have illegally charged 9900 won to 20000 won per minute without the consent of consumers.

To avoid unreasonable charges, one must be careful not to press the ¡°send¡± button when a message or the missed calls were from numbers with 060. One must also try to avoid lengthy holds when using this service. Fortunately, they cannot charge the fee if you hang up the phone before the beep.
