Workstation for Disabled Women Gives Hope.

The first workstation exclusively for disabled women, supported by Kyungnam District and Changwon City, was opened in Changwon. This is the first time anywhere in the country. This will create about 1000 new jobs for handicapped women, and 3 years from now, 2300 disabled women will be able to get jobs if they want.
The local government will find companies hiring the disabled in order that all the disabled women can get jobs in the district. In the present situation, the disabled can hardly get any job, so it is very hopeful that this welfare system can provide disabled people with jobs.
Local autonomy has provided various jobs for the disabled for some time, but we cannot deny that most of them were temporary, formal showcases. This time, the opening of the Kyungnam district workstation for disabled women is very meaningful in that it is considered to be "custom jobs".

Kyungnam District's measures will attract social attention from handicapped women. Although the compulsory employment system of hiring 2% handicapped persons is in operation, it is as scarce as hen's teeth for handicapped women to land jobs. In addition, large companies, having more social responsibility than small ones, are not willing to hire disabled people, and if hiring, they mostly take on slightly disabled persons.

They say, ''We handicapped people have the right to have jobs, and want to pay taxes as citizens". Large companies should lower the threshold for hiring the handicapped, and throw away their bias and discrimination in order that they can work the best whether they are female or male. Although Kyungman District plays a leading role in the workstation, the interest and cooperation of local companies is essential. In order to be an advanced country, non-handicapped people should live together with handicapped people. It should be expected that workstations for handicapped people expand throughout the country.
