Robot Warriors to be Developed by the Year 2011

It is predicted that, by the year 2011, the Korean government will develop robot warriors designed to go to war instead of human soldiers.

Some experts expect that war in the future will not be between human beings, but between robot warriors.

Under auspices of the Korean government, on Sept. 21st was the Tenth Science Technology Meeting held to confirm the topic, entitled "Roadmap and Process of Research and Development, Cooperation Between the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Information and Technology.

According to this road map, participants discussed the issue that the two ministries are willing to invest a total of 33.4 billion won on the project by the year 2011, enabling the robots to work even on rocky terrain by means of a remote controller.

The war robot is being developed to be equipped with either wheels or legs and designed to be utilized in any situation.
